The project goal was to create between at least 3000 flowers in order to successfully create the huge cascade of gratitude shown above! Since August of 2016, makers signed up, received a packet of information about the project, tutorials, and thank you tags to attach to their finished flowers. Groups and indiviuals from across the US, into Canada and even Norway - not to mention thousands of local makers participated in creating flowers to say thank you to the workers who sort through our trash everyday.
Check out the PROJECT PROGRESS PAGE to see how many flowers were gathered towards our goal, and to see all the names (or group names) listed as active participants.
Re-Thanks relied solely on spreading the word – flowers were made by individuals, by families, church groups, as well as schools, classrooms & community groups!
Want to take a look at the sample tutorials to make the basic flowers from aluminum, cardboard, or plastic? Please keep in mind, these instructions are only one way to make these flowers, but they will give you a basic methodology that was used to create flowers of from recyclable trash!
